Workshop -- Sanskrit and Vinyasa Counting

The Vinyasa count of the Ashtanga practice is like the official road map of the practice. Each breath and movement is accounted for from the first "ekam" to savasana. Learning this count in sanskrit and the names of of the postures helps students develop a deeper understanding of the practice and how it flows. This in turn allows for a more meditative practice.

Join Stacy Ingham for an introduction to this learning process. We'll begin by chanting the Sanskrit names of Primary Series postures and numbers through 20. Students will have a chance to practice counting the Sun Salutations and a selection of the standing and seated postures during class, and will receive a recording of the Sun Salutation A & B Count. This is a great workshop for any level of student, beginners to advanced, and those interested in or currently teaching Ashanga yoga.
