When the early western students started going to Mysore India to study with Pattabhi Jois, they had a lot of questions, and during their practice in the shala (mysore class) was not the time to have these sorts of discussions. So Jois would have informal gatherings later in the day and address whatever questions or topics came up. As more westerner came, it became a more formal thing, and they called it “conference”. Sharath Jois still holds conferences with the students that come to Mysore to study with him, and many shalas around the world do the same.
Please join Stacy Ingham on Sunday, November 3rd for a Community Conference at 9:45am, after Mysore class. Stay after you practice, or come just for the conference, and have some coffee or tea with your fellow students. Stacy will prepare a short talk on Ashtanga, for discussion and questions.
This Conference is free and open to the public.
