POSTPONED TO AUGUST 27-29
This Moon Sequence practice was designed by Matthew Sweeney and is a nice complement to the Ashtanga Primary Series. The general energy is more grounded and cooling, with no chaturangas and a nice rolling vinyasa to reset for each new set of postures. The hip openers and forward folds are nicely balanced with unique back bending and a delicious closing sequence.
This is a great sequence to have in any student’s practice catalog for those days when a full Ashtanga practice is not appropriate - Moon Days and Ladies Holidays - or when recovering from illness or injury. It is a full-length practice, requiring many of the same practice principles as Ashtanga, but offering alternatives to some of the more intense aspects.
The purpose of this weekend workshop is to teach interested students the Moon Sequence as developed by Matthew Sweeney, so that they can practice it independently, either at home or in Mysore classes at AYS Raleigh. The weekend will be dedicated to learning the sequence and committing it to memory, and understanding the methodology behind the practice.
